Fix it Friday #68

Every Friday at I Heart Faces, they post a photo for readers to practice their editing skills. Here is the original photo taken by Angie.

Now, while normally I actually really like the interest the angle gives this photo, I decided to rotate it a little and crop it to put more focus on the girl. My first edit is simply a little color perk after that because sometimes I feel that is all a photo really needs.

Then it was time to play around a little. I added in a little color to the sky to make it appear as if the photo was taken at sunset and warmed up the picture overall. Then I made her face a little more crisp so you could see her features better. I think this one turned out to be my favorite of the bunch.

And for something new, I tried a light and airy approach to the same sunset edit. This is not my usual style, but I do admire it when others do it so I thought I would give it a try. I’m still not sold on it though haha.

And to finish it all off, I thought some brown undertones would be nice given the landscape and look of her outfit. I may have to play with this one a little more later as well.

Any thoughts or favorites? Be sure to check out I Heart Faces for some tutorials on different editing techniques and links to other readers’ edits.

Fix it Friday #67

Every Friday at I Heart Faces, they post a photo for readers to practice their editing skills. This week, I finally decided to get in on it. Here is the original photo taken by Dana. Isn’t her daughter adorable!

I think the composition of the photo is great,  but the color is too cool and almost kind of flat. So I went ahead and had some fun with it. I am always drawn to bright colors with some pop when it comes to photos of children. So I added a little warmth and brightened the colors and contrast. Here is my first edit:

Then I decided, while I had the time and wasn’t really doing much else, I would play around some more. Here is an edit with more muted tones. I think it gives it almost an artistic feel.

And then a nice happy in between edit… warm but muted:

I would love to hear which is your favorite. Be sure to check out I Heart Faces for some tutorials on different editing techniques and links to other readers’ edits.
